Movie Watcher's Log

2126: "Home for the Holidays": I saw this on the bus ride from Boston to Hartford. This is for those who are always hesitant to come home for Thanksgiving. Generic family dysfunction. It had a post-Oscar Holly Hunter, a young Claire Danes, a living Anne Bancroft playing (once again) a fucked up mother, and a coked-up Robert Downey Jr. The scary part about it was that the drugs worked for his role. Despite the chaos, the really fucked up family member is the supposedly normal housewife sister.

2127: "Wild Hogs": I saw this on the return trip from Hartford to Boston. What happens when 4 middle-aged white actors decide to do a biking film? (Don't kid yourself, Martin Lawrence; you haven't been rauncy since the mid-90s.) Standard road trip film. Love the cameo by Peter Fonda. I need to see "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead". Marisa Tomei is actually a better actress these days (and doesn't look like someone in her 40s). The only drawback is that Jill Hennessy's talents seem to be wasted. Almost makes me sad that "Crossing Jordan" was cancelled.
